We have been practising how to create portraits. This week we used charcoal to draw our friends – they turned out great!

Well done Innovators, you really concentrated on looking at your friends and drew them so carefully!

What a fantastic start to Year 1! It was such a busy week with lots of learning taking place.
We also enjoyed watching the different assemblies – a big congratulations to Narmeen and Adam for being our first Step Up September champions! You can watch the assembly again on Mrs Andrews’ blog here:

Remember, throughout September we are ‘Stepping Up’ and making sure that we are following school rules, working hard, being kind to others and making a general good start to the year!
I am trying hard to remember to give out a Step Up Star of the Day so that you can be proud of all of the hardwork you are doing! We earned lots of step up points this week, so let’s keep being great as we start a new week!
Enjoy your weekends!

A big hello from your new Y1 teacher and teaching assistant 🙂

Morning Innovators, I hope your all okay! Some of you may already have a rainbow in your window for people see. Here’s how you can make your own rainbow with just some felt-tip pens, two bowls of water and a bow-shaped piece of kitchen roll.

A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon formed when sunlight passes through droplets of water hanging in the atmosphere. The colours of the rainbow are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
Watch this short video to find out how to grow your own rainbow!

Morning Innovators, something fun for you all to do is a Scavenger hunt! These hunts can be done in your home or outside.

You could draw a list of your own ideas of things to find and then label them. Why not play with your family? Time how long it takes to find something. Which item took the shortest time to find? Which took the longest?
Here are two websites with ideas:
